Family Adventure Holidays

Who will this suit? A family, or joint families with children who like a bit of family adventure and the outdoors. We can adapt trips to suit your requirements in most cases.

What ages? We suggest an averagely fit child of 9 – 10 years and upwards would be capable of completing most of these trips unaided. Remember, the itineraries you see on our site will be our standard itinerary, not adapted for children. We can make the adaptations in conjunction with you. There are limitations in some cases, we can inform you of those where necessary. Younger children than the ages mentioned above can still go, but they may require some planned additional assistance.

What happens if my child gets tired? This is all part of the adaptation plan. Kids do get tired, some will astound you with their endurance! The adapted plans will have built-in flexibility. Each trip is different and we can explain what’s what with each trip and your own child’s requirements.

A great trek in world-class terrain, that remains below the level of any altitude-related issues. This adventure can be adapted with the length of each day, even whilst on the trek itself. Accommodation is in tea-houses (lodges) with beds. You’ll have an english speaking guide + porters to carry kit, and they can also carry small children (30kg weight limit). Designed for families (min age 7), this multi-activity week involves building an igloo, snowshoeing, cross country skiing (not compulsory), getting in amongst the Reindeer, dog sledding, and other optional activities such as fat tyre mountain biking. All in all, a great family adventure in the snow. Good warm accommodation to retreat to each day!

Highlights: those gorgeous Husky dogs, the soft Reindeer, and will you sleep in that igloo?

At 5-days, this is a nice short option but given Mt Toubkal is 4167m, this is a high peak! The adventure treks up to the Neltner Refuge (3200m), your home for the next two nights. In between, you have a trek to the highest peak in North Africa. It will take about 7 hr return. The views from this lofty summit, marked by a huge metal triangle, are excellent. You will either camp next to the Refuge, or sleep inside it, depending on the weather. A good family challenge with plenty of options to bail out should it be necessary.

Highlights: summiting the highest peak in N Africa, Marrakech.

• Flying time: 3.45 hrs direct to Marrakech from London

This is NOT a Base Camp trek. But it does go into the Everest region (including the exhilarating flight to Lukla), along the Everest trail as far as either Namche or Tengbouche, depending on ability. You should also see the summit of Everest. The trek remains below the level of any serious altitude-related issues (max 3900m). As this is an out-and-back route, it has huge flexibility in how far you go. Accommodation is in tea-houses (lodges) with beds. You’ll have an english speaking guide + porters to carry kit, and they can also carry small children (30kg weight limit).

A refreshing family adventure along Morocco’s Atlantic coastline. This is a camping trek, sometimes on the beach(!), fully supported by a guide and camel team. The route is undulating, often high above the sea, and sometimes along the beaches themselves. A nice finish in the port of Essaouria. This can be done year-round but better in the spring/summer months.

A much shorter adventure than other Nepal treks due to the location of the region – it’s much closer to Kathmandu. For Nepal, this is relatively low-level, sleeping in tea-houses and trekking through rural countryside. With the 3771m summit of Yangri Peak waiting for you (optional), there is still a formidable challenge! Ideal for youngsters.
